You’ve Got Questions - I’ve Got Answers

How long are sessions?

I schedule most sessions for 30 minutes. Speech is fun, but it is hard work too! I like to focus on quality time together - not quantity.

How frequent are sessions?

This will depend on each individual child. For phonology, I typically recommend two, 30-minute sessions, twice a week. However, I understand busy schedules and expenses do not always allow for multiple sessions a week. Thus, I see many kiddos once per week. I will always send homework words to work on with clear direction how to best support your child. Remember, the kids only see me once or twice a week, but they are with you more! I want YOU to feel comfortable with home practice and to continue practicing these skills/sounds daily.

What does a phonology session look like?

Oh how I love phonology sessions! Each session consists of:

1. Homework

  • We will go over the 5 words you practiced at home (these are the words we did together at the last session)

2. Auditory Bombardment

  • I will introduce our target sound and will provide a list of words containing our target sound

  • If your child has headphones, they are welcome to put them on for this part!

3. Game

  • We will ALWAYS play a game/do an activity of your child's choice.

  • I will introduce 5 new target words and we will take "breaks" to play our game.

  • These target words we have already worked on together will become your child's homework words. No surprises! I want home practice to be easy peasy and NOT stressful. I will push your child during our time together - in a fun and motivating way of course!

When are you available for sessions?

Just like yours, my schedule is a puzzle! One of the benefits of virtual therapy is the flexibility it allows me for scheduling. I see kids in the early morning hours before school, during the day, in the late afternoons, and in the evenings! I also schedule weekend appointments when requested.

Do you accept insurance?

I am not currently contracted with insurance companies. However, if you have an HSA account, I can accept payment directly using your HSA card. I can also provide a Superbill to submit to your insurance as an out-of-network provider.
